'Scary' - Exclusive: Kevin Phillips points the finger at Leeds United 'leaders'
Kevin Phillips has questioned the Leeds United “leaders” and senior players for failing to address the team’s “scary” run of form.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Premier League goal machine suggested United’s hopes of automatic promotion are now in real doubt.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team would have gone 12 points clear of the chasing pack if they had not blown a 3-0 lead against Cardiff City in mid-December and have subsequently struggled.
Leeds have lost three of their last four Championship matches and won only two of their eight fixtures in the competition since the 3-3 draw against Cardiff.
Phillips is unsure how things have unravelled so quickly at Elland Road.
“I do not know but it is scary,” Phillips told Football Insider. “We are at the time where you need your leaders and your strong characters, and they are losing games that they should not.

“Psychologically, it can be like ‘here we go again.’ They need to address this run of form and start winning games.”
Bielsa’s side remain well placed to secure a top-two finish and are second in the league ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.
But the gap has narrowed significantly between Leeds and first-placed West Brom and the chasing pack, with sixth-placed Bristol City now just six points off top spot.
United are next in action on Saturday evening, when they travel to the City Ground to face fourth-placed Nottingham Forest.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed a £2.5m deal after fee finalised.
