Scots pundit drops ‘£9m’ Rangers signings claim as five new arrivals reported
Frank McAvennie would be surprised if Rangers have summer signings lined up before the summer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker insisted the Gers won’t spend big on players in the summer.
According to the Daily Record (17 May), Gers boss Michael Beale could have five new arrivals lined up for the end of the current season.
But the Ibrox club are also about to lose several players who are out contract in the summer with the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos set to leave Glasgow for free.
On 14 May, sources told this site that the Gers have finalised the signing of defender Dujon Sterling after he rejected offers from Chelsea and Stoke City.
When asked if he would be surprised if Rangers had five signings lined up before the end of the current campaign, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Definitely.
“They have got to bring in players. They have done alright with who have come in so far. [Nicolas] Raskin is a decent player, they have got players coming back [from injury]. They have not got a bad squad.
“They have got decent players there it is just whether they stay or not. You would expect at a big club like Rangers that people would want to stay.

“I will believe it when I see it because you can’t trust anything.
“I would understand if they were making money from all the players that are leaving, but it is just freeing up wages. I cannot see Rangers playing £9million for two players.“
In other news, Rangers are at risk of losing £16m as critical July date looms.
