Scots pundit ‘fed up’ of Rangers after ‘big’ Celtic claim
Frank McAvennie has told Michael Beale’s Rangers squad to stop insisting they will beat Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said the Gers need to stop talking themselves up when they haven’t been able to beat their Glasgow rivals this season.
The pair face off in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the end of April where Ange Postecoglou’s side will continue to hunt down the treble.
Beale will be looking to claim his first piece of silverware as Rangers boss and a win over Celtic at Hampden will edge him even closer to that reality.
As quoted by the Daily Record (10 April) Gers captain James Tavernier said he is “really confident” that his side can go to Hampden and win after what he saw from the players in the 3-2 defeat at Parkhead last week (8 April).
John Lundstram has also backed his side in the semi-final.
As quoted by the Daily Record (15 April), Lundstram believes the team are capable of giving a “big statement” and winning the game.
McAvennie has told the Gers to keep their comments out of the press until they can actually win a derby match.
“Callum McGregor said it last week that Celtic do their talking on the pitch,” he told Football Insider.
“All Rangers are doing is talking in the papers and I am getting fed up of it. Even the Rangers supporters are as well.

“Do it on the park and then come out and say that you know you are better than them afterwards.
“It is every time they play each other Rangers players claim they are better even though they get beat. Just do your talking on the pitch that is what I would say.“
