Scots pundit on Rangers finalising '£5m' Malik Tillman signing as new details emerge

Frank McAvennie has claimed Malik Tillman is “not worth” the £5million it would take for Rangers to make his loan deal permanent.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said that if the Gers have that kind of money to spend, it would be better used elsewhere.

The 20-year-old joined Ibrox from Bayern Munich last summer on loan and Michael Beale is keen to make the temporary deal a permanent one.

The Light Blues have the first option on the USA international and could cost £5m to secure a permanent deal.

As quoted by footballscotland (7 April), Tillman said he will wait to hear what both Beale and Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel have planned for him before making his decision.

McAvennie insisted Rangers should send the midfielder back to Germany.

I do not think Rangers have got £5m to spend on him,” he told Football Insider.

There will be discussions but they will not buy him. £5m is a lot and I do not think he is worth it.

I think he is a talented player. If you spend that money in Scotland it has to be on a player that works his socks off all the time.

Sometimes Tillman is a bit-part player. He can be outstanding for 20 minutes then you will not see him for the remainder of the 70 minutes.

For me, he is not worth it. I think if they have got £5million it could be spent elsewhere.
