Scott Brown tipped for Celtic manager’s job – ‘one thing I know…’ says expert

Scott Brown will take over as manager of Celtic – because he’s the perfect candidate.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops defender Frank McAvennie suggested Brown will see an assistant’s job at Parkhead as a pathway to the top job.

On 14 June, Football Insider revealed that the Celts are closing in on appointing Brendan Rodgers as their new manager following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

Talks between Rodgers and Parkhead chiefs have been at advanced stage and the 50-year-old is believed to have been offered a very lucrative contract to return to Glasgow.

According to the Sun (12 June), Celtic legend Brown could join as his number two if current assistant John Kennedy follows Postecoglou to London.

When asked if Brown would see the assistant’s job at Parkhead as a stepping stone to taking over permanently, McAvennie told Football Insider:I would think so.

Either way he will do what is good for Scott, that is one thing I know about him.

We can all guess but Scott will do what he wants and he will do it for him.

He likes Brendan so if he were to come back as his number two I think that would be a stepping stone. Then in three years or so he would go and step into his shoes.

He has got that aspiration to be a manager. I think Scott wants it and if he came back it would be as a pathway to being the manager of Celtic.
