Scott McTominay in line for Premier League return as duo eye deal with end-of-season talks planned
Scott McTominay could be in line for a sensational return to the Premier League in the summer after spending the last two campaigns away from English football.
The former Manchester United star turned his back on his boyhood club to move to Napoli in the summer of 2024, and he has since become a cult hero with the Italian giants.
Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in November that United had been considering a move for McTominay in the January transfer window, but that idea ultimately came to nothing.
The 28-year-old is set to spearhead Scotland’s hopes in their first World Cup since 1998 this summer, but the end of the current campaign could also prompt a huge change in his career path.

Tottenham among Premier League pair to chase Scott McTominay
Football Insider revealed in November that Napoli would make it difficult for Tottenham to sign McTominay in the January window, as the Lilywhites fixed their eyes on the midfielder.
He is under contract in Naples until the summer of 2028, which prompted Napoli to place a huge price tag on his head in order to fend off interest in him during the mid-season window.
However, that has seemingly done little to deter Tottenham from their pursuit of McTominay, as they are once again eyeing up a potential deal for him this summer, according to Area Napoli.
Thomas Frank’s side are also seeing their interest matched by Arsenal at the moment, as the pair of bitter North London rivals prepare to go head-to-head to bring the player back to the Premier League.
However, both clubs could be about to see their efforts thwarted by his current employers, with Napoli planning talks over an extended new contract at the conclusion of the campaign.

Antonio Conte’s side have little intention of losing their star man any time soon, and are ready to try and tie him down for an even longer period in the coming months.
McTominay may not want Premier League return
McTominay’s reputation has skyrocketed since he joined Napoli, and despite consistent links with a return to the Premier League, it may not be in his interests any time soon.
The Scot told Sky Sports Italia back in October (relayed by Goal) that he is “really happy in Naples” while also adding that the people in the Italian city are “incredible.”
It certainly appears that he has embraced his time in Serie A with full effort, and those are certainly not the comments of a player who is itching to get back to the UK at the earliest opportunity.
Given that and the fact that Napoli are hugely keen to retain him as part of their group, it seems highly unlikely that he would choose to swap that for the Premier League any time soon.
