Scott McTominay looks ‘lost’ at Man United as exit mooted – McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has claimed Scott McTominay looks “lost” at Man United this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested the time has come for McTominay to consider leaving the club.

The 25-year-old started both of Scotland’s Nations League games against Ukraine and Ireland.

As revealed by SofaScore (24 September), the midfielder won seven out of 11 ground duels and boasted 89% pass accuracy in a 2-1 win over the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.

McAvennie claimed McTominay only plays well for Scotland but not for Erik ten Hag’s side.

He’s just played two great games for Scotland where he was sitting just in front of the back four,” he told Football Insider.

That’s his position but he looks a wee bit lost at Man United. It just shows what he can do. He’s never going to be a [Paul] Pogba who can just turn on and do things at the drop of a hat. McTominay doesn’t do that, he’s a steady player, just goes along.

He’s proven he can definitely play for Scotland and he’s enjoying it. Maybe he’s not happy at Man United, maybe it’s time for him to leave.

“I really don’t know what the solution is because his form for Scotland is much better than what it is for Man United. Why would you be like that? Man United are supposed to be one of the biggest clubs but obviously they’re not clicking, it’s terrible.
