Scott Wright responds to major exit announcement at Birmingham City
Scott Wright reacted to the latest transfer news emerging out of Birmingham City as a new summer exit was confirmed.
Supporters at St Andrew’s have been treated to an exciting summer transfer window, with Bright Osayi-Samuel, Demarai Gray, and Phil Neumann all joining on free transfers, and Tommy Doyle and James Beadle arriving on loan.
In addition to those names, former Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi has been signed for £10million [L’Equipe], while Taylor Gardner-Hickman has signed from Bristol City permanently.
Tom Brady is preparing the squad for a very difficult Championship campaign, but after winning 111 points from 46 games last season, anything is possible under manager Chris Davies.
Sadly, with so many new signings, current players are having to find new clubs, and that is the situation for Huddersfield Town-bound Alfie May, who joined the club last summer.

Birmingham City bid farewell to Alfie May
Taking to Instagram (22 July), the official club account wrote: “Birmingham City can confirm that striker Alfie May has joined Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee, subject to clearance.
After talking about the player’s stats at St Andrew’s, the post continued: “Everyone at Birmingham City would like to thank Alfie for his contribution to the club and wish him every success in his future career.”
Wright, who joined the club from Rangers last summer, liked the post, having made 20 appearances during his first campaign with the Blues.
Chris Davies to push for Championship success
Football Insider verdict
After the squad strolled to the League One title last season, supporters are expecting even more success next term, especially as star players continue to be added to the squad.
With 17 goals and nine assists in 57 games, May was an incredible addition to the team last summer, but with Furuhashi now arriving, there was very little space for the 32-year-old forward.
Football Insider understands that Huddersfield Town are also trying to sign Marc Leonard, with the 23-year-old spending the 2023/24 season at Northampton Town before making the squad at St Andrew’s.
Football Insider also understands that Birmingham City have made a move to sign Jamie Vardy following the veteran’s departure from Leicester City, though several teams are interested in the 38-year-old.
The club’s academy has also produced multiple talents over the years, including Jude and Jobe Bellingham, so fans will be keeping an eye on new young talents coming through the ranks.
Next season will be extremely difficult, and surviving relegation will be the first target on the sheet, but once the wins start rolling at St Andrew’s, there is no telling how far this team can reach.
