Scott Wright undergoing Birmingham City medical after bid accepted – sources

Birmingham City have agreed a deal to sign Rangers winger Scott Wright, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has travelled to St Andrew’s for a medical ahead of a permanent move to the League One club.

Football Insider revealed (August 27) that Rangers had given the green light for Wright to leave this summer and he is set to be one of multiple senior stars who will go in the final three days of the window.

Birmingham also signed Ben Davies on loan from Rangers last week, in a deal first revealed by Football Insider.

Scott Wright set for Rangers exit after Birmingham City deal agreed

The ex-Scotland Under 20s international has primarily played as a right-winger, but he’s versatile enough to play on the left or in an attacking midfield role as well.

A move to Birmingham City would be Wright’s first outside of Scotland, having spent his entire career in his home nation, previously playing for Aberdeen and Dundee.

Wright has made 120 appearances and scored 12 goals for the Glasgow giants, but most were off the bench, with only 48 starts for the club.

The winger now looks set to leave the club and will offer Birmingham plenty of experience as they seek to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
