Scottish FA to take action against ‘dangerous’ Rangers star Danilo

Keith Hackett believes that Danilo should have been cautioned for his Rangers goal celebration after he dived into the crowd to be with the fans.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former PGMOL chief, ex-FIFA, and Premier League referee believes that the celebration “creates a crowd surge.”

Danilo scored the second of Rangers’ three goals as Philippe Clement’s men went on to defeat Ross County 3-0 as they continue to try to close the gap on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

However, Hackett believes that the 25-year-old was lucky to escape without a yellow card for his celebration after he opted to hop into the crowd to be with the Light Blues fans.

Danilo took a risk with his Rangers goal celebration

Hackett told Football Insider, “The action that he took should have seen the referee intervening and issuing a caution for his actions of celebration.

“One of the reasons why this is a law that the authorities want enacting, is because going to the crowd in that way to celebrate creates a crowd surge.

“When there’s a crowd surge, potentially it moves forward there’s a risk of injuring spectators who are standing in front.

“I was surprised that the referee didn’t take any action.

“I hope that the Scottish FA will just write to the club and say, ‘Be aware that goal celebrations of this nature where the player goes to the crowd is a cautionable offense.’”
