Tottenham Hotspur’s head scout Steve Hitchen was present as Borussia Dortmund took on Monaco this week as he scouted Christian Pulisic, according to a report.
The Daily Mail states that Hitchen was in attendance to watch the 18-year-old attacking midfielder, among other players.
The American international was introduced at half time and played the second 45 minutes at right wing-back as his side slipped to a 3-2 Champions League defeat.
The game was rearranged after the Dortmund bus was targeted in a terrorist attack the day before.
The teenager is enjoying a breakthrough season, scoring five goals and making nine assists in his 35 league and cup appearances for Dortmund this term.
Pulisic has also represented USA 11 times already, scoring three goals.
Football Insider verdict
There is no doubt that Pulisic would be an astute acquisition for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and will be one of the names talked about most in the summer transfer window. Pulisic was first promoted into Dortmund’s senior squad last season, as a 17-year-old, though he only made nine Bundesliga appearances, scoring twice. Now 18, Pulisic has clearly impressed Thomas Tuchel and has become a dependable squad player in a hugely talented squad. The fact he has already represented his national team at the age of 18 also speaks volumes of his character. If Tottenham can secure his services it will be a real coup of a signing and he will add to the plethora of young talent Spurs already have. If you were Pulisic it might be very tempting to join the ongoing Pochettino project at Spurs.
