Sean Dyche sack: ‘Immediate Friedkin verdict emerges at Everton’
Sean Dyche’s position as Everton boss is not likely to be one of the first changes made after the impending takeover, says Alan Myers.
The Friedkin Group expect to complete their takeover within the next one or two weeks, but an immediate managerial change appears unlikely.
Although Dyche’s contract expires in the summer no talks regarding an extension have taken place amidst the looming ownership shift.
Alan Myers, a Sky Sports journalist covering the saga in detail, does not anticipate an “immediate change”.
Speaking on Sky Sports Reporters’ Notebook (11 December), he said: “I don’t see any immediate change of manager either.
I expect the group’s executives to assess the situation fully before making any major decisions. They have distanced themselves from involvement in the decision-making process at the club during the takeover—rightly so, and they’ve adhered to this policy vehemently.”
Everton ownership could eye future plans without Dyche
Recent reports [The i] claimed that The Friedkin Group might look to appoint a foreign manager once they finalise the takeover.
However, since a drastic change is unlikely results need to improve on the pitch before that change is likely to be made.
The postponed Merseyside derby delays the last Goodison Park clash, which will likely take place under the lights.
Everton’s last result, a 4-0 victory over Wolves, came after a poor run of one win in six matches. The club currently sit 15th in the Premier League, five points above the relegation zone. Fans and the incoming owners both want to avoid another relegation fight.

Sean Dyche has played a vital role in keeping Everton in the Premier League twice. However, The Friedkin Group may weigh his time at Burnley, which ended in relegation, and the uninspiring recent form when deciding his future.
If a change occurs, a former Everton manager could return. Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes remains highly respected on Merseyside.
Moyes, who once led Everton into European contention, could provide stability under the new ownership group.
Dyche’s team head to the Emirates for a tough test against Arsenal on Saturday 14 December.
In other news, defender Reece Welch could have his loan fate decided this week.
