'Sell him in the summer' - Liverpool fans don't want 26-year-old international back in the team

Nathaniel Clyne made a successful return to action following a long-term injury as he helped Liverpool U23s run riot against Stoke City with a 4-0 win in the Premier League Cup on Sunday.
It was the defender’s first game this season after a back injury sustained in pre-season had kept him sidelined for the Reds but he managed to complete the full ninety minutes.
After hearing news of the right-back’s comeback supporters were not exactly overwhelmed and there were even calls to keep the 26-year-old with the U23s and be sold in the summer.
One fan said, ‘Hard to see how Clyne gets a look in,’ and another backed up that opinion by saying, ‘Clyne is done imo.’
Trent Alexander-Arnold has capitalised in the former Southampton star’s absence and between the 19-year-old and Joe Gomez, the full-back position looks as though it may be sorted.
Liverpool’s defence has been an Achilles heel in an otherwise productive season for the Anfield outfit, who continue to push for Champions League qualification next season, as well as progression in Europe’s top competition.
The Reds have the second worst defensive record out of the sides in the Premier League’s top seven but the arrival of Virgil van Dijk seems to have calmed their issues at the back.
