Rangers are on the brink of signing former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel on a three-year deal according to a report – and Gers fans are split down the middle if it is a good move for the Light Blues.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Light Blues are close to agreeing a £2.7million deal with Fenerbahce for the veteran defender as Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox revolution steps up a gear.
Gers fans are hugely split over Skrtel’s signing – with some fearful it will go the same way as Bruno Alves and Phil Senderos’ signings in recent seasons.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
I’m not bothered what we spend in transfer fees. I’d rather spend £2.7m on someone of Skrtel’s quality than look about League one in England for jobbers.

Am split on the Skrtel signing due to the transfer fee being paid for someone his age. His quality is clear but do worry after what we got from Alves last season.

For around 3million. Outstanding business from us so far. Just hope we do the same kind of business for outgoings.

Skrtel played with Gerrard at Liverpool but looks set to switch Turkey for Scotland as the Gers look to end Celtic’s dominance of the Scottish game in recent seasons.
The Slovakian joined Fenerbahce in 2016 from Liverpool and has won 97 caps for his national team.
The Ibrox giants have already secured the signings of Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy and Allan McGregor as Gerrard prepares for his first season as a manager and the arrival of the 33-year-old defender should help the Gers close the gap to their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers have also been linked with moves for defenders Kyle Bartley and Connor Goldson this summer as they look to shore up their defence.
