Chris Wood and Pontus Jansson have been named in the EFL team of the year as they continue to inspire Leeds’ promotion push towards the Premier League.
Championship top scorer Wood took his goal tally to 27 in all competitions on Saturday with a brace against Brighton, while Jansson has endeared himself to the Leeds faithful with his passionate displays at the back.
The duo were named alongside Newcastle stars Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle, while four Brighton players were also included in a side glittering with stars.
However, 38-year-old manager Garry Monk missed out on winning manager of the season, as the EFL chose Huddersfield’s David Wagner in a side posted on their official Twitter account.

His importance has seen the former Leicester striker miss just two of Leeds’ 38 Championship outings this season, as he continues to fire the Yorkshire giants towards the top flight.
Similarly, Sweden international Jansson’s form at the back has seen him earn a permanent move to Elland Road following his season-long loan from Serie A outfit Torino.
The 6ft 5in colossus has become a fan favourite in Yorkshire, as he is known for his tough tackling and wild celebrations. A song, entitled “Pontus Jansson’s magic hat” has also been made in his honour.
Both Wood and Jansson will remain crucial in Leeds’ Championship run-in, as they look to consolidate their play-off place and edge closer to third-placed Huddersfield.
