Tottenham have left four of their senior stars out of the 26 man squad for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The club announced on their official Twitter account that Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko, Danny Rose and Heung-Min Son were all absent as the team set off on Wednesday

The quartet are all said to be ruled out through illness and injury, as Mauricio Pochettino has named a squad mixed with first-team experience and youth for their three match tour.

They will take part in the International Champions Cup with fixtures against Paris Saint Germain, Roma and Manchester City in Orlando, Harrison and Nashville respectively.

They will then return to London to take on Italian giants and Champions League runners-up Juventus in a match at Wembley, before kicking off their Premier League campaign with a clash against Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Lilywhites will be hoping for an improved performance from their last visit on Tyneside, after they suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat to the already-relegated Magpies on the final day of the 2015/16 season.

Tottenham are yet to see any new faces through the door in North London this summer, although they did confirm on Tuesday that they had tied Kieran Trippier to a new five-year deal at the club.

In other Tottenham news, they are set to submit a £20million-plus deal for a La Liga outcast.
