Sergio Reguilon told to seal loan exit from Tottenham after behind-the-scenes reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has told Sergio Reguilon to look for a loan or permanent move away from Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Aston Villa defender said Reguilon will need to get game time ahead of the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year.

The 25-year-old was left out of the squad for the Lilywhites’ season opener against Southampton last Saturday (6 August).

Antonio Conte’s side beat the Saints 4-1.

The Evening Standard reported (11 August) that the Spain international has been “banished” from first team training along with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks as the club looks for moves away for the quartet.

Brighton are said to have expressed an interest in Reguilon.

When asked if the defender should be seeking a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Hutton said: “I still think he’s a talented player.

When there’s already options there, obviously Lucas Moura can play in that area, they’re bringing other players into the club it’s kind of an indication that the manager doesn’t think you’re at it.

Going forward I think he’s a good player, defensively I think he can get found out. The likes of [Ryan] Sessegnon, I think he’s going to be the guy who can play that role. He scored last weekend, he was influential within the game.

With the World Cup and everything, he’s [Reguilon] probably going to have to go out on loan and try and get a permanent move away to get the game time.
