Serie A make Jamie Vardy announcement as league’s CEO speaks out
Jamie Vardy has been named Serie A’s Player of the Month for November, as the veteran striker continues to make waves across the continent.
After 13 years at the King Power Stadium, Vardy left Leicester City on a free transfer at the end of last season.
The striker was part of the iconic 2015-16 Premier League-winning squad, and scored 200 goals in 500 appearances across an iconic era for the Foxes.
Rangers attempted to sign Vardy, but the 38-year-old was keen for a new challenge away from the United Kingdom.
After a summer full of options, Vardy decided to join Italian team Cremonese, signing a one-year contract with the option of a further year should the club avoid relegation from Serie A.

‘Jamie Vardy is truly a player from another era’
Vardy is a certified Premier League legend, and the striker just does not seem capable of slowing down.
Even as Leicester were relegated, the 38-year-old continued to play and score regularly for the Foxes, netting nine goals across 35 appearances in the league last season.
When he left, the former England international said he would not be retiring, and instead confirmed his desire and ambition to keep achieving in the game.

And that is exactly what Vardy is doing. The forward has scored four goals across 10 appearances in Serie A this season so far, and has found the net against Atalanta, Juventus and Bologna.
Newly-promoted Cremonese stand ninth in the Italian top flight, above the likes of Atalanta, Lazio, and Fiorentina.
On Thursday, the league announced that the former Fleetwood Town man has won the Player of the Month award for November, seeing off the likes of Mike Maignan and Lautaro Martinez.
Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo said: “Jamie Vardy is truly a player from another era. One of those talents who, with their history, their achievements and the indomitable spirit with which they live every match, best express the romance of football.
“His arrival at Cremonese, who were quick to seize the opportunity this summer, was greeted with great enthusiasm by all Serie A fans, and Vardy is repaying them with top-level performances, innate leadership and important goals, the result of the competitive spirit and shooting skills that have always distinguished him.”
Vardy continues to defy logic
In many ways, Vardy’s career does not make sense. The striker infamously admitted in 2020 that his pre-match diet consists of coffee and three cans of Red Bull.
But, at an age at which most professionals have either hung up their boots or are sticking around in the lower leagues, the striker continues to thrive at the highest level.
He’ll keep going, too, and it is impossible to know when Vardy will stop scoring goals – maybe he never will. The 38-year-old looks set to play into his 40s, at least.
One thing is for certain. The striker will go down in the history books for pure longevity, with consistent goal-scoring quality to match throughout his incredible story.
