Suso has revealed why he decided to leave Liverpool to join Serie A giants AC Milan back in 2015.
The 23-year-old has seen his stock continue to rise with Vincenzo Montella’s side, as he is given the game time to impress at the San Siro with one of Europe’s biggest footballing institutions.
Assist machine Suso, who has laid on an eye-catching 10 goals for his side in all competitions this season, revealed that Liverpool’s activity in the transfer market forced him to leave Anfield.
“I’m happy here (Milan), I don’t know how many times I’ve said it. We’ll see what happens this summer with the club,” Suso said, as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio’s official website.
“When I was at Liverpool I went through a similar situation. I was young, and the club bought a ton of players, which lead to my exclusion. I doubt the same thing will happen here though.”
Suso joined Liverpool as a 17=year-old in 2010 and made a total of 21 appearances for the club.
Brendan Rodgers brought in 10 new players during the 2014-15 season, forcing Suso to jump ship as he struggled to gain game time under the Northern Irishman.
The likes of Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Mario Balotelli were brought in to fill gaps in the final third, pushing the five-time Spain Under-21 international Suso down the pecking order.
Suso opted to sign a pre-contract agreement with Milan in January 2015, which saw him leave in the summer at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Now with Montella’s side, Suso has shined this season, adding seven goals to his 10 assists during 31 league and cup encounters with Milan.
His form has even seen Premier League rivals Tottenham reportedly declare their interest in his services according to the Mirror, should moves for Isco or Ross Barkley fail to materialise.
However, with a contract until the summer of 2019, Suso is likely to remain with Milan and continue to inspire his sides’s attacking exploits in the final third.
In other Liverpool news, a contract clause has been discussed regarding this Jurgen Klopp outcast.
