Sheffield United agree four-year deal, Cooper finishes medical – sources

Sheffield United are set to sign Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Michael Cooper on a four-year deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Cooper is finishing off his medical at the Championship club on Wednesday after the Blades had a bid worth around £2 million accepted by Argyle.

The 24-year-old was in the stands to watch Sheffield United’s Carabao Cup clash with Wrexham and is set to finalise his move to Bramall Lane in the next 24 hours.

The Yorkshire club have had a busy transfer window as they aim to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Football Insider revealed (August 12) that United target Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is undergoing a medical at the club.

Cooper had been an integral part of Plymouth’s squad since breaking into the first team back in 2017 and has made 161 appearances for his boyhood club.

Last season he found first-team football hard to come by after losing his place to new signing Conor Hazard.

The shot-stopper made just 19 appearances across all competitions for his club last campaign and kept six clean sheets.
