Sheffield United backed to sign 'experienced' Championship keeper as deal all but done - Kenny
Sheffield United must sign an experienced Championship shot-stopper to replace Arsenal-bound Aaron Ramsdale.
That is the view of Blades icon Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the goalkeeping situation at Bramall Lane.
This site revealed earlier today (20 August) that Ramsdale is set to sign for Arsenal and could be registered in time for Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.
The deal is believed to be worth £24million upfront, rising to £30m with add-ons.
Michael Verrips had a night to forget as he repaced Ramsdale between the sticks for Wednesday’s 4-0 thumping at the hands of West Brom.
Kenny was unimpressed by the Dutchman’s performance and insisted that United must find a new number one before the transfer window shuts.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He didn’t help his defenders out and he wasn’t very commanding for such a tall lad.
“There were a couple of times where he was already fighting with people before a long throw-in came in. He didn’t have room to have a run and jump at it.
“I don’t know what shape Fodderingham is in, because he hasn’t played much football.
“It’s a case of finding the right one. You need someone with the experience in that league.
” You can’t afford to take the risk with someone who hasn’t played for a year or two now. They aren’t in a position to take that gamble.“
Wes Fodderingham made just one appearance throughout 2020-21.
Verrips meanwhile spent the second half of the season on loan with Emmen in the Eredivisie.
