‘Chris Wilder shocker a joke’: Fans revolt at Sheffield United ‘disrespect’
Sheffield United fans have exploded at the news that the Bramall Lane club have parted company with boss Chris Wilder.
The Blades were vying for a Premier League return, but witnessed their automatic promotion chances slip away thanks to three successive defeats in April.
They would then go on to lose 2-1 to Sunderland in the Championship playoff final on 24 May, which led to serious doubts surrounding Wilder’s management.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 30 May that Sheffield United were considering sacking Wilder, while the Blades ultimately finished 10 points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
The South Yorkshire outfit were bought by American consortium COH Sports in December, who are now set to take the Bramall Lane club in a different direction.
As exclusively reported by Football Insider, Sheffield United were in talks with Ruben Selles, who replaced Wilder on Wednesday, 18 June.

Sheffield United fans fume as Wilder leaves Bramall Lane via mutual consent
The Blades faithful will have been hopeful that their side could beat Sunderland at Wembley last month, after comfortably beating Bristol City in the playoff semi-finals.
Wilder’s men beat the West Country outfit 3-0 on away soil on 8 May, before winning by the same scoreline back on home turf four days later.
However, less than a month on from their defeat to the Black Cats, a club statement released by the Blades on 18 June confirmed that the South Yorkshire outfit had parted company with Wilder via mutual consent.
One Sheffield United wrote on X: “Joke of a decision, thank you for everything Chris”, while another fan said: “Total lack of respect as a club to a manager.”
