Sheffield United taking 'gamble' as 'huge' Gibbs-White news confirmed - Kenny

Sheffield United have taken a “gamble” in Morgan Gibbs-White – but the new signing could be the creative spark that they need.

So says Blades icon Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the club confirmed the deadline-day loan capture of the 21-year-old.

The midfielder joins from Wolves, where he signed a new three-year deal immediately before joining United on a temporary basis.

United have picked up just two points and scored only one goal from their opening five matches in the Championship this season.

And Kenny predicts that Gibbs-White could be the man to provide much-needed goalscoring opportunities at Bramall Lane.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I think with the way things have started, they have struggled to create a lot of chances.

“He is attack-minded, quick, and he’ll create chances. Simple as. He started like a house on fire at Wolves, but hasn’t had a lot of game-time recently.

“It’s a huge move for them, but that’s the only problem I can see. He has done well coming through the England youth set-up as well.

“He’s another young lad, which can be a bit of a gamble. They have signed three loan players and it will be interesting to see how they all do.

“He’s trying to forge his way in the game and I think he’ll probably do well. He is exactly the type of player they need.”

Gibbs-White made three appearances for Wolves this season before being sent out on loan.

He scored his third goal in 86 appearances for the club in the League Cup clash with Nottingham Forest last week.
