Kenny shares Jokanovic verdict after being 'wowed' by what he's seen at Leeds

Sheffield United will play with a newfound intensity next season under new boss Slavisa Jokanovic.

That is according to ex-Blades goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Kevin McDonald revealed the approach Jokanovic takes in training.

The former United midfielder, who played under Jokanovic at Fulham, claimed: “everything is about winning the ball back, press after loss, press after loss, all the time.”

The new Blades boss will oversee a team who finished bottom of the Premier League last term.

But Kenny is optimistic that the Serb can supercharge the team and turn the tide at Bramall Lane.

“They didn’t have that intensity last season,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Look at how well Leeds did when that work rate was there… Wow. They had an amazing season whereas Sheffield United had a difficult season after losing a few early doors.

“Jokanovic has come and set his stall out early doors. It will be different next season.

“It’s the Championship, a level down from the Premier League, so he can get that intensity up and be a force in that league.

“It’s hard playing in the Premier League because you’re playing against better players and better teams. Your mentality is totally different in that league.

“Hopefully they’ll be able to play on the front foot next season.”

Jokanovic’s appointment was confirmed last Thursday, as forecast by Football Insider.

The 52-year-old is a promotion specialist having previously lifted both Watford and Fulham out of the second-tier and into the Premier League.
