Sheffield Wednesday fans all say the same thing about Henrik Pedersen getting sacked tonight
Sheffield Wednesday started 2026 off with a defeat as Preston cruised to a 3-0 victory at Deepdale.
After a promising set of results at the end of 2025, there was some hope going into the Preston match.
However, this was quickly extinguished as the hosts dominated the match and deservedly came away with all three points.
As a result, the Owls began 2026 in the worst possible fashion in a year where many supporters were hoping to see more positive results.
While many Sheffield Wednesday fans will be more focused on a takeover at Hillsborough, results are simply not coming in on the pitch, and supporters have now begun to turn on Henrik Pedersen.
Sheffield Wednesday fans call for Henrik Pedersen to be sacked
While many Sheffield Wednesday players have underperformed in recent weeks, fingers are now being pointed at the manager.
The Owls only have one Championship win this season, coming back in September thanks to a 2-0 win over Portsmouth.
Since then, they are winless in 18 second-tier matches, something that is deemed unacceptable to many of the Hillsborough faithful.
As a result, many supporters have taken to X to call for Pedersen to be sacked after the latest defeat.

Appreciate Pedersen’s effort in taking over when we were at our lowest, but patience is starting to wither with stupid decisions such as starting a half injured player.

Many fans were quick to highlight how poor Sheffield Wednesday’s defending is, and called for Pedersen to be sacked when the new owners are confirmed.
This is on Pedersen. We shouldn’t be playing out using Iorfa as he’s barely capable of simple, non pressured passes

Get new owners get rid of Pedersen defending is awful

That was pathetic. Can’t defend and can’t create…Pedersen needs to go as soon as taken over, the blokes clueless

What did Pedersen say after Sheffield Wednesday’s defeat to Preston?
Pedersen was far from amused as he oversaw yet another defeat on Thursday.
As a result, the Owls remain rock-bottom, with minus seven points and 32 points from safety.
With Wednesday at least looking to hit a positive points total this season, as it stands, this appears unlikely.
Looking back on the match, Pedersen was quick to express his frustration with how the Owls let their performance slip away after Preston’s opener.
- Sheffield Wednesday are almost guaranteed to be relegated this season
- Points deductions and a poor overall squad have seen the Owls rooted at the bottom of the Championship
- However, supporters are hoping to see a least a couple more wins before the season is over
“It was a tough game against a strong, strong opponent,” he told The Star on 1 January. “Until the first goal, I thought it was very equal and we were well in the game.
“Defensively, we were well-organised on the ball, and we had a good balance between playing around and behind. But after the goal, we didn’t get our rhythm back again, and in the second half, it was difficult.
“They’re physical, very strong, and go from having the ball to creating something really dangerously. It was a challenge for us, and we conceded two goals on defensive transitions where we lost it in areas that we’ve been strong in over the last two or three games…
“We have to rest now. It’s a tough Christmas for our boys, and of course we have a small group of senior players and a big group of young players. It’s tough for them, but how they worked today – with their effort and what they bring on the pitch – is great.
“Now we have to rest, and we have to try and show who we are again against QPR in three days’ time.”
