Sheffield Wednesday fans rage at latest Dejphon Chansiri development: ‘Get him gone’

Sheffield Wednesday fans have been left furious by the latest update in the Dejphon Chansiri ownership debate.

The Thai owner took over the club back in 2015, and after a fairly successful first couple of seasons at the club, investment quickly dried up, and various issues have arisen in the time since.

Owls supporters have been urging Chansiri to sell the club for a number of years now, but as yet, the 57-year-old has not relented.

Last season, the club finished 12th in the Championship, but rumours are circulating that Danny Rohl may leave Wednesday due to a disagreement with the owner.

Sheffield Wednesday struggle with pay issues again

Back in March, Chansiri failed to pay staff and players, before the issue was eventually solved and wages were handed out in April.

Last Friday (30 May), it emerged that there were issues with payment again, with Chansiri again not paying Sheffield Wednesday employees on time.

Now the issue has gone further, with the Sheffield Star’s (4 June) Alex Miller reporting that wages still remain unpaid, with the PFA now in contact with the players.

Miller added that the club have been charged for multiple breaches of the EFL regulations, and owner Chansiri has been charged individually.

Wednesday fans rage at Chansiri

With Chansiri recently rejecting an offer to sell Sheffield Wednesday, it seems as if the pain will continue for Owls fans.

We have seen very recently what can happen when owners are not properly vetted by the EFL and the FA, with former Reading owner Dai Yonggee almost forcing the club into oblivion, before being forced to sell up last month.

Wednesday supporters will be fearing the worst after another set of charges from the EFL, and will hope that the saga will stop short of points deductions.

Some fans took to X to respond to the news, with one supporter in particular simply saying: “Get him gone.”
