‘Sheffield Wednesday turn to Liverpool to ease Dejphon Chansiri embargo pain’

Sheffield Wednesday have turned to Liverpool as they have announced new signings despite their current transfer embargo.

Courtesy of their embargo, the Owls are restricted to acquiring players via the free agent market and by completing loan deals.

Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer restrictions have been inflicted thanks to owner Chansiri’s ongoing failure to pay wages.

Amid the South Yorkshire club’s financial struggles, boss Danny Rohl has been linked with a shock move to Brentford‘s coaching staff.

Sheffield Wednesday sign recently departed Liverpool academy gem

Thanks to Chansiri’s continued financial mismanagement, Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been largely subject to bad news in recent weeks.

But as reported by the Sheffield Star, the Owls announced a trio of Under-21 signings on Wednesday, 2 July.

The South Yorkshire side’s new additions include Harry Evers, who recently departed Liverpool at the end of his contract at Anfield.

Wednesday are set to struggle in the Championship next season

Meanwhile, even though the teenager has been signed by the Championship outfit as an Under-21 player, he will likely enjoy senior minutes next season.

Due to Chansiri’s failure to pay the Owls players for two consecutive months, Sheffield Wednesday are set for a mass exodus, as members of Rohl’s squad who were paid late, or not at all, in both May and June can now leave South Yorkshire, subject to a 15-day notice period.

Consequently, the Championship side will be operating with a depleted group of players in the second tier next term, which will hand the likes of Evers senior playing opportunities.

Meanwhile, with Rohl set for an Owls exit, Sheffield Wednesday could appoint Henrik Pedersen as their new boss, promoting him from his previous role as the German’s assistant.
