‘Shock horror’ – Liverpool fans blast ‘complete disaster’ who returned to ‘default settings’ vs Leeds

Arne Slot has more problems to overcome after Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Leeds United on Thursday.

Alexander Isak is a long-term absentee, and with Mohamed Salah away, Hugo Ekitike led the line at Anfield, alongside Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Jeremie Frimpong on 1 January.

However, it was not enough firepower, even with Joe Rodon sidelined for Leeds, who managed to pull further away from the Premier League relegation zone with a huge point on the road.

Liverpool fans finally saw the best of Wirtz during the win over Wolves, having also grabbed an assist against Tottenham, but those feelings quickly changed on Merseyside.

Liverpool fans furious with Florian Wirtz once again

The 22-year-old needed 10 games before notching a single goal contribution, not counting the Community Shield, and he now has one goal and four assists to his name.

With another struggling performance against Leeds, one supporter labelled him a “complete disaster,” especially given his price tag, with another saying that he returned to “default settings” at Anfield.

A third called him the “flop of the season,” as the Reds were held to their third Premier League draw of the campaign, and some are ready to give up completely on the £116million Germany international.

Wirtz’s performance in numbers vs Leeds United

Wirtz was replaced after just 66 minutes, making way for Cody Gakpo, and it was probably a relief for the playmaker, given how much he struggled to create in that time.

While he did create two chances, the German missed one big chance, only saw 25 per cent of his shots go on target, failed to complete his only dribbling attempt, and was dispossessed once [FotMob].

It was just as frustrating in the defensive third, where he committed a foul, lost 50 per cent of his ground duels, won just 33 per cent of his tackles, and lost 100 per cent of his aerial duels.

He offered very little in front of a packed-out Anfield crowd, which is becoming a common trend on Merseyside, and more are beginning to question the huge amount of money spent on his signature.

Slot has a very difficult decision to make when it comes to Wirtz. He should be stepping up in Salah’s absence, but fans are still waiting to see the very best of him this season.
