‘Shocking’ – Leeds fans savage Joel Piroe display against Sunderland
Leeds United fans have ripped into Joel Piroe after his “shocking” performance in their 1-0 Championship defeat against Sunderland on Tuesday evening (12 December).
The Whites tasted their first defeat in seven games at the Stadium of Light with Jobe Bellingham’s second-half strike the difference maker for the Blackcats.
Interim boss Mike Dodds got the better of opposite number Daniel Farke, but the German’s misfiring forwards did him no favours and their chances of reaching the automatic spots were slashed after the loss left Leeds eight points adrift of second-place Leicester City.
Piroe struggled to make any meaningful impact and had just two shots, 28 touches and 14 accurate passes across the 90 minutes.
Fans are beginning to lose patience with the Dutchman and have taken to social media to berate him, but some feel his time in the starting line-up should be over.
This supporter slammed him for being a “passenger” against Sunderland.
One fan questioned if he does anything at all for his team.
One supporter has not been impressed with him since his summer move and feels he has not lived up to his hefty price tag.
One fan mocked the 24-year-old and claimed he couldn’t even see him on the pitch after his unimpactful display.
This fan has lost hope of Leeds returning to the Premier League this season and blasted Piroe for being “out of his depth”.
Some fans was baffled that Piroe was not hauled off by Farke.
One fan wants him axed from the starting XI in favour of Willy Gnonto.
This supporter claimed he was “invisible” across the game.
