‘Shut your mouth’ – Crystal Palace star given stark warning after confession

Crystal Palace will speak to Daniel Munoz about his comments while on international duty after he hinted at exploring a move away in January.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Palace will seek clarity over his comments and whether he wants to leave.

This comes after Munoz opened the door to joining Man United after admitting it would be a “dream” to play for the likes of United, Barcelona, PSG or Real Madrid.

The Colombia international was a standout performer in Palace’s FA Cup-winning campaign last season, and has already featured in 19 games this term.

However, those performances under Oliver Glasner have only heightened the interest in his services, with his recent comments only serving to stoke the fire.

Crystal Palace to hold talks over Daniel Munoz exit reveal

Brown told Football Insider on 17 November that Man United could explore signing Munoz in January after being alerted to his interest in joining.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Palace do not want to lose the right-back and plan to resolve the issue privately.

I’m sure somebody at Palace will speak to him about it,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve experienced it before with players going away, you see it reported that they’ve said something or other, and when you pull them aside like ‘what did you say that for’, it turns out they never actually said it.

“I always used to tell the players to keep their mouths shut because you never know what they’re going to spin out of the things you’ve said.

“So whether that’s what happened, we don’t know, maybe he has said these things and he is considering a move away from Palace.

“Coming out publicly talking about wanting to join other clubs is still not on.

“So they’ll speak to him, figure out what he was saying or why he was saying it, and potentially plan for the future from there based on what they both want.

“We know Palace won’t want to lose Munoz, and whether he wants to explore a move away or not, the club hold the power because he’s under contract.

“It’s something they’ll have to get to the bottom of, but it’ll be done internally rather than in public, it’s not something they want to blow up bigger than it has to be.”

Crystal Palace stand on Munoz exit revealed

Brown told Football Insider on 14 November that Crystal Palace hope to keep Munoz beyond the January transfer window despite the growing interest.

His comments are believed to have set clubs on alert over his potential availability, but the Eagles still see him as a crucial part of their ambitious future plans.

Barcelona and Chelsea are also believed to be interested in a January move for Munoz as they aim to bolster their squads in the mid-season window.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 11 November that Crystal Palace will demand over £25million Munoz despite claims that they could accept offers of that value.

The Colombia international is under contract until 2028, having put pen to paper on a new deal earlier this year, and the Eagles are under no pressure to sell.
