‘Sign him up’ - Liverpool fans go nuts about attacker reportedly on radar after WC display
Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri delivered a stunning display at the World Cup to help Switzerland edge past Serbia – and Liverpool fans on Twitter are convinced they should sign him this summer.
The 26-year-old winger scored a last-minute winner to earn his nation a 2-1 win in the group stages after he calmly finished inside the penalty area.
He is a dazzling wide man with bundles of trickery and is a talisman for Switzerland, who now look well placed to reach the knockout round of the World Cup.
Shaqiri did endure a frustrating campaign last season with Stoke due to their relegation from the Premier League, but has certainly put himself on the market with his performance on the international stage.
The Guardian reported earlier in June that Liverpool were interested in signing the left-footed maestro, who is believed to have a relegation clause in his contract worth between £12million-£13.5million.
Shaqiri has often been accused of inconsistency during his time in England, but was a standout player for Stoke in their relegation by still scoring eight goals and supplying seven assists in all competitions last season.

Liverpool fans on social media are convinced that the Swiss winger would be a great addition to the squad at Anfield and help improve the depth of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
He has previous experience at European heavyweights Bayern Munich and would be able to provide back-up to the Reds front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Shaqiri was excellent tonight, yes he can be lazy & inconsistent, but for anything less than £15m to add squad depth & options to our forward line, is an absolute no brainer #LFC
