Simon Jordan has issued a word of warning to Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves despite the ace’s wonder goal in the 2-0 win against Derby County on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old has been a revelation since his move from FC Porto to the West Midlands last summer and has become a fan favourite as the club sits on the brink of promotion to the Premier League.
But Jordan, sitting in as a co-presenter on the talkSPORT Alan Brazil breakfast show, broadcast on Thursday at 6am, the former Crystal Palace chairman said: “It’s completely different playing against Premier League defences than against the likes of Derby County.”
However, he is clearly a fan of the Wolves maestro as he added: “He reminds me of a young Louis Zaha.”
Neves scored a screamer in the victory over the Rams – a 30-yard volley into the top corner of the goal putting Wolves one win away from a return to the top-flight.
And talkSPORT presenter Brazil laid on the superlatives for the midfielder’s effort: “It was special. What a goal, what a goal.
“A wonder goal.”
And added, referring to the Wolves faithful; ” You must be loving it at the moment.”
Football Insider verdict:
Jordan is absolutely right – the real test of Neves’ talents will come next season when he will test himself against some of the best defences in the world. The 21-year-old Portuguese ace has taken like a duck to water to the Championship and has become one of, if not the main reason this Wolves side will be promoted to the Premier League. We reckon Neves will carry on performing at the highest level and become one of the best players in the top-flight next season which will ignite a bidding war for the maestro’s services.
