Simon Jordan reveals why Man City must sell Jack Grealish: ‘Sensitive discussions’
Jack Grealish has fallen out of favour at Manchester City and could be set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The England international has made just seven Premier League starts this term, indicating that Pep Guardiola does not view him as a key player.
Grealish was an unused substitute when City were defeated by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final last Saturday, with Guardiola instead opting to hand Claudio Echeverri his debut from the bench.
The former Aston Villa man has been linked with a move away from the North West, while Tottenham have shown an interest in his services.

Simon Jordan reveals why Man City will sell Grealish
After enduring a poor campaign compared to their lofty standards, Guardiola’s men are set for a busy transfer window as they strive to battle for silverware once more.

Speaking about Grealish live on talkSPORT [20 May], Simon Jordan said: “He (Guardiola) can’t turn round and say ‘does he have a future?’ at Manchester City when possibly there might be sensitive discussions about transferring him or moving him along.
“There is no productivity in that. No right manager is going to observe on that at this moment in time. I think the ringing endorsement is evident. If someone shows you what they are, believe them. He doesn’t particularly fancy Jack Grealish, it would seem, at this moment in time. Jack Grealish has had four years at Manchester City.
“Was he ever going to follow in the footsteps of Kevin De Bruyne and be there for x number of years? Possibly not, and he’s at that stage with City now, when the transfer fee they’ve paid for him is not a deterrent anymore because it’s been written down so much over the four years that he’s been there that you can actually sell him for £30-40million and book a profit towards PSR.”
Newcastle expected to make move for Grealish
As alluded to by Jordan, Man City could be willing to cash in on Grealish’s services, as the England international has been unable to nail down regular football this term.
The 29-year-old has largely been unable to provide the North West club with the kind of dynamism he displayed in Aston Villa colours before moving to the Etihad during the summer of 2021.
Having previously featured for England in the 2022 World Cup and the Euros in 2021, Grealish failed to make the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024 amid a lack of game time for City.
The former Villa man should be eager to avoid that scenario again ahead of next summer’s World Cup, so a move away from the North West could suit all parties.
Meanwhile, ex-Everton CEO Keith Wyness expects Newcastle United to make a move for Grealish ahead of next season, while the Magpies will be keen to bolster their ranks if they qualify for the Champions League.
