Sky: Everton blow as striker closes in on deal with Premier League rivals

By Tom Blackburn

Everton and West Ham appear to have missed out on striker target Loic Remy who looks set to leave Chelsea for Crystal Palace, according to a report.

Sky Sports claim on Twitter that Remy will join Alan Pardew at Palace on a season-long loan.

West Ham and Everton had both expressed interest in the striker, but Everton’s hopes appeared slim after French newspaper L’Equipe claimed in August that the player wanted to stay in London.

Sky Sports claimed on Wednesday that West Ham were searching a number of avenues to end their striker crisis with Remy an option, tbut they have now secured Juventus striker Simone Zaza on a season-long loan.

Remy has struggled to fit in at Stamford Bridge and is considered a disappointment, with just 12 goals in 47 appearances.

If Crystal Palace succeed in signing Remy it would represent a huge coup for the London club, who will have significantly enhanced their attacking options after already signing Christian Benteke this summer in a deal worth £26.5million.

In other Everton transfer news, a club are in advanced talks for a Toffees target for a potentially record-breaking deal.
