Andy Walker predicts Rangers clash v Partick Thistle

By James Black

Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker believes that Rangers will ease past Partick Thistle at Firhill on Friday night.

The Gers could leapfrog Celtic and go top of the Scottish Premiership for the first time since 2011 with a five-goal winning margin but neither of Sky’s commentary duo thinks the Ibrox side will go top tonight.

On the Sky Sports website, former Celtic striker Walker has tipped Pedro Caixinha’s side to grind to a 2-1 win while commentator Ian Crocker has the Gers comfortably winning 3-1.

Both picked out Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos as the Ibrox side’s key man after the 21-year-old took his goal tally to seven goals in his last five games since his £1million move from HJK Helsinki.

Morelos grabbed a double against Dundee to add to the brace he scored in the Light Blues’ last game before the international break against Ross County in Dingwall.

Rangers have back-to-back trips to Partick over the next few days, facing them again on Tuesday night in the Scottish League Cup quarter final.

After the doubleheader with Thistle, Rangers face Celtic in the first Old Firm game of the season and could strike a psychological blow over their bitter rivals by going into that match top of the table.

Caixinha’s side have won both of their away games in the league so far this season – beating Ross County and seeing off Motherwell on the opening day of the season – and will be eager to continue their strong away form when they make the short trip to Maryhill.

Partick sit 10th in the table going into their clash with Rangers and are one of three teams yet to win a Premiership fixture along with Kilmarnock and basement boys Dundee.

In other Rangers news, Fabio Cardoso has posted a hilarious tweet comparing one of his Ibrox team-mates to Cristiano Ronaldo.
