Matt Le Tissier believes that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has made a disappointing start to the season.
Spurs have just one victory in their last 10 games across all competitions and have fallen away after a promising start.
Pochettino has had to contend with several injuries already this season, with senior players Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Hugo Lloris and Erik Lamela all spending time on the sidelines.
The north London club have been eliminated from the Champions League group stages and must avoid defeat against CSKA Moscow to reach the Europa League.
Spurs have also lost ground in the title race and are seven points adrift of Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Sky Sports pundit Le Tissier claims that Pochettino’s side are currently failing to meet expectations after setting a high standard last season.
“He has only lost one game in the Premier League but the Champions League failure is certainly a disappointment,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports. “Seven points off the top and not to have got out of their group is below expectations considering how good Tottenham were last season”.
Pochettino helped Spurs challenge for the league title last season and ensured Champions League football with a third-placed finish.
The Argentinian is extremely popular around White Hart Lane and his side match the high intensity style that he coaches.
They have found results difficult in recent matches and have dropped off after their impressive 2-0 victory against Manchester City.
Spurs host relegation-threatened Swansea on Saturday in the Premier League and it appears to be the perfect game to get three points.
Pochettino is regarded as one of the best young managers in the division and will still believe his side can challenge for the title, with Spurs currently fifth-placed in the table.
