Lovenkrands emerged as a new target on Thursday after Rangers were linked to Ferguson and nine-in-a-row Brown in recent days.
The Danish former winger remains close to the club having played for Rangers between 2000 and 2006 and is a regular contributor to its in-house media.
Ex-Rangers defender Brown is in the running after three years away from football following his departure from Dundee, where he had been manager for a year up until February 2014.
Ferguson left his position as manager of Clyde last month and was immediately linked with a return to the club where he came through as a boy.
Caixinha has made it clear he wants the first-team coach to be a bridge between his Portugese backroom team and the club, someone with vast knowledge of Scottish football as well as the inner workings of Ibrox.
It has been widely reported that Helder Baptista is expected to be confirmed as Caixinha’s No2, with Jose Belman poised to replace axed Jim Stewart as the goalkeeping coach.
Caixinha will now look to add a fourth member of the backroom staff who knows the the Scottish game inside out.
Caixinha had a memorable first game in charge last weekend, as Rangers demolished Hamilton 4-0 in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, one of the club’s midfielders has agreed the terms of a mammoth new deal.
