Rangers senior duo Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace have left Ibrox after holding showdown talks with the club hierarchy, according to a report.

Sky Sports Scotland claimed on their official Twitter account on Tuesday morning that Miller and Wallace were meeting with the board to discuss their punishment having a row with manager Graeme Murty at Hampden in the aftermath of the 4-0 defeat to Celtic.

It is understood that the two players are both facing suspension and the official announcement is expected to be made in a short period of time.

Miller has just weeks left on his contract at Ibrox and it is widely reported that he will not play for Rangers again.

Club captain Wallace has spent most of the season out injured and is not expected to take to the field any time soon.

Football Insider verdict

No matter how bad it must feel to lose 4-0 to your bitter rivals in a Scottish Cup semi-final, players should not be undermining the manager and Miller and Wallace deserve whatever punishment is about to come their way. It just seems to be one thing after another for Rangers, they can’t just seem to have a quiet season where they make some progress. Hopefully that changes in the summer. Mark Allen should clear out the deadwood and help whoever is the next manager to build a decent squad of professionals who are just willing to get their head down and work hard. Miller has ended his Gers career on a sour note while it’s hard to see how Wallace will come back from it.

In other Rangers news, a new name is in contention for the Light Blues job with this English club manager now second-favourite.
