Sky Sports predictor: This is where Leeds will finish in Championship this season
By Matt Farr
A Sky Sports predictor tasked with the job of predicting the end of season standings in the Championship has backed Leeds to finish in the play-offs.
Sky Sports posted the results of their prediction on their website on Friday, after using an algorithm to determine where each side will finish in the league at the end of the season.
The algorithm uses previous results, performances and the difficult of upcoming fixtures to make its’ final prediction, and it gives Leeds an 87% chance of finishing in the top six.
However, it gave Leeds only a slim 3% chance of finishing in the Championship’s top two, and ultimately ruled out winning the title (less than 1%).
The algorithm also predicted that Garry Monk’s side would finish fifth with 79 points, meaning they would pick up just 14 points from their remaining 10 fixtures, and drop down one place in the table.

That means Leeds would travel to Reading in a play-off semi final, while Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday would also go head to head in the final battle for promotion.
Leeds have a tough run of fixtures on the horizon, including a double-header against promotion rivals Brighton and Reading at the end of the month.
First, however, Leeds turn their attention to a visit from Queens Park Rangers to Elland Road on Saturday.
Monk has done fantastically well to transform the club into a genuine candidate for promotion since his arrival at the start of the season, and fans will be delighted if they can maintain their current course and finish in the top six.
