Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham has named Adam Lallana as his surprise player of the season, while also calling him Liverpool’s main man.
The 25-year-old attacker has been in good form this campaign with with six goals and six assists in 16 encounters.
He has been one of the key players to a so far successful Reds campaign, which has seen them settle in second heading into the Christmas period.
This has led Higginbotham to praise the 28-time England international, suggesting that he’s Liverpool’s main man at the club over the highly-rated Philippe Coutinho.
“Lallana,” replied Higginbotham on Friday morning’s Premier League Daily on Sky Sports news, when asked who his surprise player of the season was.
“I think everyone’s talked about Coutinho being the main man, but I think Lallana’s come out and proved that he is the main man in my opinion. He’s been so strong for them and the goals he’s scoring and assists and he does make them tick.
“He’s got the freedom to do what he wants to do and like I say we see in these situations whether he’s assisting goals or whether he’s scoring goals, he’s been absolutely brilliant this season and he seems to be getting better and better all the time and he’s going to be an integral player for England in time to come.”
Lallana has been at Liverpool for two years now after signing from Southampton for a £25million fee in 2014.
He has just 19 goals and 18 assists in 106 appearances in total, showing that he has come on leaps under Jurgen Klopp this season.
The German boss has brought out the best in a lot of Liverpool players, placing them as the closest challengers to the dominant Chelsea team.
The top two are currently separated by six points and Klopp’s men are now preparing for difficult clashes against Stoke and Manchester City over the Christmas period.
In other Liverpool news, Jamie Carragher has named this Reds ace as the Premier League player of 2016.
