Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas believes that Jurgen Klopp will ring the changes when Liverpool face Porto at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Nicholas has predicted that the Reds will breeze into the Champions League quarter finals by winning 2-0, 7-0 on aggregate after hammering the Portuguese giants on there own turf last month 5-0.
He expects fringe player Dominic Solanke to earn a rare start for Liverpool this week, as three or four other changes that may see the likes of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino rested for the clash against Manchester United at the weekend.
“Klopp will make several changes before Saturday’s showdown with Manchester United, when they hold an advantage as Jose Mourinho will have a tight second leg with Sevilla in the back of his mind,” Nicholas said on the Sky Sports website.
“I’d expect Dominic Solanke to play and Adam Lallana will be a certainty to play, perhaps in a more advanced role, while Sadio Mane will probably be the only one of their regular front three to play with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino handed well-deserved rests
“Klopp will probably make four or five changes in total and with James Milner most likely playing central and with him back on penalties I’d see him a value pick to score the first goal.
“Liverpool do have good momentum so I would expect them to get another win, but I can’t see it being one of their classic performances.”
Solanke, 20, is yet to start a game in the Champions League for Liverpool, having only earned one appearance in the competition this season when he came off the bench in the 7-0 group stage win over Maribor.
Across all competitions, the former Chelsea forward has only earned four starts since signing for Liverpool in the summer.
He is yet to score his first goal for the Merseyside giants and he will no doubt be hoping that he breaks his duck on Tuesday if he gets the chance to start against Porto.
The Reds were rampant in the first-leg last month when they won 5-0.
Mane netted an impressive hat-trick while Salah and Firmino each got a goal of their own.
In other Liverpool news, this Chelsea midfielder has headed to the Reds in the hopes of earning a summer switch.
