Sky Sports pundit delivers verdict on Everton top four hopes
By Dominic Toner
Ray Wilkins believes that the teams above Everton in the Premier League need to keep a close eye on the Merseyside club.
The Toffees recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday and remained seventh in the league table.
However, they are now just six points adrift of the top four and are making a late assault for the Champions League spots.
Everton are unbeaten in their last nine league games and manager Ronald Koeman’s style is beginning to take shape.
The Dutcmhan moved to Goodison Park in the summer and now has his team matching his philosophy.

Sky Sports pundit Wilkins believes that the Toffees are in sensational form and credited star striker Romelu Lukaku as a big reason behind that.
“I think the top four need to be wary of Everton,” Wilkins said, as quoted by Sky Sports’ website. “Ronald Koeman’s side are there or thereabouts at the moment and they are doing remarkably well, especially at home.
“I thought it would be a comfortable Everton victory on Saturday and I wasn’t disappointed. Romelu Lukaku is key to that. He’s showing what a very good player he is.”
Everton’s form at Goodison Park has been particularly strong this season and they have made it a fortress.
They are set for a very difficult match, though, in their next game when they travel to White Hart Lane to face Tottenham.
Koeman’s side will get a real test of their top four credentials as Spurs are second-placed in the league table.
Lukaku will be confident of scoring against any time in the division and he is the joint-highest Premier League scorer this season with 17 goals.
