Sky Sports pundit delivers verdict on Tottenham ace Dier in England win
By Dominic Toner
Paul Walsh rated Tottenham ace Eric Dier a 7/10 for his performance in England’s 2-0 victory against Lithuania.
The 23-year-old completed 90 minutes in the comfortable win against the European minnows at Wembley.
Gareth Southgate’s side maintained their unbeaten record in the group, with Jermain Defoe and Jamie Vardy scoring the important goals.
Dier was joined in the England starting line-up by Spurs teammates Kyle Walker and Dele Alli.
Sky Sports pundit Walsh believes that Dier did his job effectively in the middle of the park against Lithuania.

“He’s (Dier) never going to be doing anything too extravagant against a side like Lithuania,” Walsh told Sky Sports. “In terms of using the ball after picking it up from the back four and protecting that back four, he did the job.
“He didn’t have too much to do and that’s not his fault, but what he did he did well.”
Dier has played as a central midfielder during the international break for his nation and been reverted to the position he played in for Spurs last season.
However, the versatile ace has been used in a three-man defence by Mauricio Pochettino this campaign and played as a right sided centre-back.
He has helped the north London club to be defensively solid this season and played alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Dier has proved he continues to be an important member of the England set-up and has thrown his name into the hat to be a future England captain.
