Sky Sports pundit predicts Aston Villa v Ipswich, hails this impressive player

David Prutton has backed Aston Villa to beat Ipswich 2-0 in their Championship clash on Saturday afternoon.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton hailed the “impressive” Scott Hogan after he made his debut for the club during the defeat at Nottingham Forest last time out.

Striker Hogan moved to the Midlands club on deadline day after making a switch from Championship rivals Brentford.

He failed to get on the scoresheet at the City Ground but produced an encouraging display despite Steve Bruce’s side falling to another defeat.

Ahead of the match, former Nottingham Forest man Prutton expressed his difficulties in choosing a winner as he explains why he is backing Villa.

“It’s a tough one to call. Villa will be expected to win but it’s difficult to know what you’re getting game-to-game from either side,” Prutton told Sky Sports.

“Steve Bruce is still trying to get his new players settled and they were decent for periods against Nottingham Forest despite the result.

“Scott Hogan had an impressive debut without getting on the scoresheet. Ipswich is a toss of a coin and with it being at Villa Park, I see a home win.”

Villa have failed to pick up a single win in 2017, losing five matches in all competitions, including being thumped 3-0 at Brentford.

The Midlands club drew their last encounter on home soil when Simon Grayson’s Preston came from 2-0 down to rescue a point.

However, Bruce’s side are still the only unbeaten home team in the second tier this term, picking up points against the likes of Fulham, Huddersfield, Leeds and Newcastle.

They will take on Mick McCarthy’s side who are level on points with the recently relegated Premier League club in the Championship table.

Ipswich are on 36 points from their 30 games, two places below their weekend opponents who have a game in hand.
