Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds v Cardiff, delivers verdict on attacking options

By Amir Mir

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has backed Leeds to beat Cardiff 2-0 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder hailed the club’s strength in depth following their January additions.

Garry Monk added two loan signings last month in Spaniard Alfonso Pedraza and Swansea winger Mo Barrow.

They will be tasked with providing striker Chris Wood with the service as the Whites look to continue their promotion challenge.

Ahead of the match, Prutton delivered his verdict on the fixture and stated which player will be flying high.

“I just think Leeds, coming off the back of how close they came against Huddersfield, will have a bit of extra motivation following the handbags at the end between Garry Monk and David Wagner,” Prutton told Sky Sports.

“They have a player brimming with confidence too in Chris Wood and strength in depth across the attacking positions after adding a couple in January.”

Monk’s side lost their previous encounter to promotion rivals Huddersfield with Michael Hefele scoring a late goal.

That loss meant that the Terriers leapfrogged Leeds in the Championship table with David Wagner’s side now one point ahead.

However, a win against Neil Warnock’s side in front of their own supporters could see Monk’s men move up to third in the table if other results go their way.

The Yorkshire club have won their last six matches on home soil, without conceding a goal and will be hoping to extend that run against the relegation-threatened Welsh outfit.

Cardiff lost their previous encounter 1-0 to Norwich and have not picked up three points on the road since their away win at Bristol City in mid-January.
