Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds v Derby

By Dominic Toner

David Prutton has predicted Leeds to draw against Derby in their Championship clash on Friday night.

The Whites host promotion rivals Derby at Elland Road and will be looking to consolidate their place in the play-off positions.

Garry Monk’s side are currently fifth in the league table, but will move up to third if they avoid defeat on Friday.

Derby are also eyeing promotion this season and are just outside the play-off spots in seventh.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton predicts Derby will be full of confidence after their FA Cup success and the signing of forward David Nugent, but also recognised the strong form of Leeds.

“Confidence will be high at Derby after beating West Brom in the FA Cup,” Prutton said, as quoted by the Sky Sports website. “The addition of David Nugent will only make them better, too.

“However, they’re coming up against a Leeds team who are unbeaten in six games and have won eight games at Elland Road this season. This fixture shouldn’t hold any fears for Leeds. They’re very closely matched on the stats.”

He added: “The atmosphere at Elland Road may just swing this in Leeds’ favour but I’m going to be boring and go for a draw.”

Prutton has tipped a 2-2 scoreline in the highly anticipated league clash.

Leeds will be without their star defender Pontus Jansson on Friday as he serves a two-game suspension, meaning they could field an unfamiliar centre-back pairing.

Liam Cooper is a doubt after picking up a knee injury in the FA Cup win over Cambridge, so full-back Luke Ayling may have to drop into the centre-back role.

The Whites are in a great run of form recently though and are regarded as one of the in-form teams in the Championship.

Monk will be wary of opponents Derby though as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to them in October, with Johnny Russell scoring the decisive goal in the second-half.
