Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara has been left raving over the “unbelievable” finish ability of Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez after his chip secured a 2-1 victory over Leicester City on Saturday.
The Magpies were looking to secure their second win on the bounce against the Foxes and drew blood first, with Jonjo Shelvey’s strike slightly deflected past Kasper Schmeichel in the nets.
However it was the second half strike from Perez which stole the headlines, the Spaniard taking advantage of a defensive mix-up and chipping the ball from 30 yards to give the visitors a 2-0 lead, which proved decisive as Jamie Vardy netted a late goal which left everyone at the King Power Stadium on the edge of their seats.
Kamara, covering the game for Sky Sports, was left astounded by Perez’s goal, turning to his personal Twitter account to state: “It was an unbelievable finish by @AyozePG and huge result for @NUFC and the Geordie fans today.”

Football Insider verdict
Kamara is not wrong – Perez’s finish really was out of the top drawer. The Magpies have really struggled up front this season but goals like this make you wonder why that is the case, for they obviously have the talent running through their side. Not only was it a stunning strike but a brilliant result for Rafael Benitez and his men, who will be thinking that they are home and dry after another good day of results elsewhere. Perhaps the pressure being off will let the players play with a little bit more freedom, and fans could well see more audacious attempts like Perez’s.
In other Newcastle United news, the club are hunting for the next Jamie Vardy.
