Graeme Souness believes that Tottenham must improve their away form if they are to become a top side.
Spurs recorded a convincing 4-0 home victory over West Brom on Saturday to move up to second in the Premier League table, with Harry Kane (3) and Dele Alli on the scoresheet.
They are yet to lose a single home match in the league this season and have made White Hart Lane a fortress.
However, the north London club have struggled on the road and won just four of their 13 away league games.
Sky Sports pundit Souness believes this is an area that Spurs must improve on if they are to become serial winners.
“Their qualities at times have been fantastic and it’s a mystery they can’t win more games away from home,” Souness said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “They have to start doing that if they want to be the real deal.
“It’s alright doing it at home where everybody loves you and you’re full of confidence, but sometimes you have to go places and dig out results where nobody loves you, and that’s what separates the men from the real winners.”
Spurs remain in a strong position to secure a top four spot at the end of the season and qualify for the Champions League, but are unlikely to catch table toppers Chelsea.
They are 10 points adrift of their London rivals and Souness feels they have been hugely let down by their failure to win on the road.
Chelsea have already won double the amount of away games (8) than Spurs in the league season and that has helped them become the clear favourites for the title.
