Slaven Bilic: This in-form West Ham star deserves England call-up (not Antonio)
By Will Butcher
Slaven Bilic is a firm believer that Andy Carroll should be handed an England call-up this month following his form with West Ham.
Carroll, 28, has been in sublime form for the Hammers of late, scoring four goals in six games including the January goal of the month for his bicycle kick against Crystal Palace.
Bilic believes the former Liverpool striker is more than deserving of a call-up to the Three Lions squad, and revealed he would never prevent Carroll from representing his country, despite his recent injury problems.
“I would never say Andy Carroll can’t play for England,” Bilic said, as quoted by West Ham’s official Twitter account. “It’s always good for the player and the club to get a call-up.”

With strikers Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney ruled out through injury, the former Middlesbrough manager will be forced to hand a chance to England’s fringe attackers.
Marcus Rashford and Jamie Vardy are expected be picked, with Southgate set to choose from the likes of Carroll, Jermain Defoe and Danny Welbeck on who to accompany the duo.
Carroll will be hoping his recent form and return from a groin injury puts him in the hat to feature for the Three Lions at the end of the month.
England face Germany in six days’ time at Signal Iduna Park in a friendly, before returning to Wembley to play against Lithuania in the qualifying phase of the 2018 World Cup.
