Slaven Bilic has a stern message for the West Ham board

Slaven Bilic has a stern message for the West Ham board by stating his team needs more “quality” players in “a few positions” if they are to improve.

The Hammers have struggled for the majority of this campaign, with injuries, moving into a new stadium, poor summer signings and players refusing to play all causing problems.

West Ham ended their association with Upton Park in the summer as they moved into the London Stadium for this campaign.

However, they went on to suffer a number of big defeats, including losing 4-0 at home to Liverpool at the weekend.

This has seen Bilic come under fire during the season as he was clear in what the club needs if they are to move forward.

“We need quality in a few positions that we need to improve,” Bilic told the club’s official website.

“For a lot of games, we were without more than a few players and sometimes we coped with it and played really good and people said ‘We don’t need anyone’ but over the long term, over the season, we need more quality.”

Striker Simone Zaza made a loan switch to the London Stadium last summer, but he failed to score during his brief time at the club before his loan was terminated in January.

Added to that, their star player from last season, Dimitri Payet refused to play for the club and demanded a move back to his homeland.

The Frenchman made a winter switch to Marseille as the Hammers continued to struggle in the Premier League.

They have suffered a number of big defeats on home soil this term, including conceding four or more goals against the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City (twice), Watford and Liverpool.

In other West Ham news, a BBC pundit has hilariously stated what would happen if Daniel Sturridge played alongside Andy Carroll next season.
